My best friend at Rutgers, my roommate. Both pledged Fall’12. We may be in different orgs, but we’re closer than ever.

My grandbig and my big. Damn. I’m so happy that I can finally call these guys my brothers
Nearly 11 weeks ago, I embarked on a journey with 6 other guys that would change my life forever. I never thought it would be easy, but this process has pushed me to my limits and taught me how to be a better man, a man of character. We began as individuals and now we’re a unit, solid and unwavering in our loyalty to each other and our fraternity. I really and truly love each and every one of my f
ellow Alpha Sigmas, and I know that the bond we’ve cemented today will and can never be broken. Today, I am proud to say that I’m a member of Alethia Kai Logos. I am proud to show my leadership and intrinsic worth as I wear the colors Purple and Gold. I am proud to say that I’ve joined the ranks of the most incredible and honorable brothers at the Gamma Gamma chapter of Alpha Kappa Lambda. I promise to wear our letters with distinction and to show the world what it means to be a man of character.

Just wrote a

new page paper on why I’m qualified to hold two chair positions within my fraternity in 30 minutes.

Quite proud of myself due to the fact that it is single spaced.

I’m confident I’ll get these positions, and if not, I am fully prepared to help whomever the chair holder is in order to make my fraternity the best it could possibly be.

Week 8

starts tomorrow and god damn this process has been something else.

Just got back from playing soccer with the brothers and I genuinely appreciate every time they praise me.  In these brief moments they suspend my age and status and focus on what I bring to the table. This applies to every brother. Brothers who may have personal beef with each other still recognize the strengths of the other and what they offer to the fraternity.

When they found out I played soccer (and that I was good) they made me captain and trusted me to help lead us to victory. When they first heard me sing they came up with dozens of ideas to use it for social and philanthropic benefits. They’ve given me chances to take my strengths and improve them in any/every field and I cannot thank them enough.

It’s moments like these, where I make these realizations, when they show faith in my fellow alpha sigmas and I that I realize that every hardship in this process is worth it.

A few more weeks to go. It only gets harder from here on out, but as I’ve told the brothers, “it’s not about the letters on your chest, it’s about how you where them.” And you better believe that the moment I wear my letters for the first time, that I’m going to wear them with pride because I  EARNED them.
