Friday’s are special event days at camp, and due to this week’s theme being fun and fitness we hosted the mini olympics. At the very end there was a surprise event where the counselors participated. We had a plank contest and I came in third out of the guys (next to the dude in the red shorts) lasted 4 minutes, the girls kicked our asses and their champ lasted over 5 min.
I was the “coach” of team china “each group of approx. 10 kids were randomly assigned a country, and we got China. My squad won the gold for best push-ups. proud coach.
my first day as a camp counselor. Despite the eclectic weather patterns, everything seemed to go swimmingly (no pun intended)
I didn’t expect to, but I fell in love with the 7-8 year old age group, coined as “Junior Knights.” So full of energy, laughter, and enthusiasm, it made my life so much easier. Gave out a few nicknames such as gigly, hatgirl, and hello kitty. (I’m not the most clever when it comes to giving out nicknames) There’s a camper named Katie, who loves soccer and is wickedly talented at it. Her favorite player is Mia Hamm. MIA HAMM. She wasn’t even alive when she was playing at her prime and yet she has met the woman and respects her ability. Such an adorable girl. Then there are the kids like Harrison, Andy, Aislin, Aidan, etc who made my day that much more enjoyable. If this is an indicator of things to come, I am stoked for the next 6 weeks that I’m a counselor.
